چکیده

Abstract Theileria is an haemoparasitic protozoa causing disease known as theileriosis in animals. The transmitted by tick vectors. circulates cattle and causes the dairy industry to suffer significant financial losses it affects milk livestock production, especially sub-Saharan region. endoparasite can exist sub-clinical state that are carriers, these transmit diseases become reservoir of infection for ticks. In Nigeria, diagnosis this parasite has been done mainly through light microscopy Giemsa stain; molecular report scanty. Hence, work was identify characterise species infecting healthy Iwo Osun state, Nigeria utilizing genetic approach (PCR 18S rRNA gene sequencing). cross-sectional investigation, blood drawn aseptically from cows’ jugular veins using a sterile needle syringe. Whatmann filter paper No. 3 spotted with blood. Cloning sequencing three samples successfully amplified. Phylogenetic analysis showed two comprising one T. velifera mutans . outcome will help decision-making process developing control measures cows Nigeria.
